Increase WCHL Prize Pot

Note: this is not a suggestion to increase the salary cap
  • Each team adds $10 (or some other agreed upon amount) to the prize pool.  Dividing up the extra $$ to be determined.

  1. Let's defer upping the prize pool until I'm a contender.

  2. If everyone else is in agreement. Inflation does happen. you make the playoffs you should win your money back.

  3. $5 x 16 is $80 extra. I'm talking out of my ass now, like the team with the highest scoring F gets a twenty, same for #1 D, #1 G, and #1 PIM. this way, some money could go to just about anyone. Like I said, talking out of my ass. I haven't worked in over 4 years. I have no problem with kicking in extra cash for the pot...but NOT raising the salary cap.

  4. Not opposed to raising it another $10.
More thinking it should just go into the regualr pot-breakdown, especially if we are giving guaranteed amounts to 1st round exits.

But I could possibly be persuaded to special awards, though nothing Mike suggested really struck. Will think about this.

  5. Some interesting prize ideas I cam up with:

Best bang for the Buck award: Compares a players point produced for pennies spent. If we keep a list of bid-day signings, we could limit it to signings made that year. So essentially an award for best bid-day pickup for the year.

Golden Turd Award: Conversely to that above, an award for the worst bid-day pickup. A minimum amount of games player should be required. Say 70 games. And a fun idea for the prize amount would be to award the amount of the players salary for the year. A refund of a sorts for selecting the leagues biggest turd. (Buy out to follow)

Hospital Ward Award: an award for the team that lost the highest avg of man-games to injury for the year. Avg vs Total would be better to even out for the varying roster sizes carried by teams. Let those injury prone players lead you all the way to the $.

More to come as I think of them.

  6. I think we should increase the prize pot by $10 to $20 per team. I am not trying to gouge people, just looking to make the leagues prizes have a little more heft.

  7. I have no issue with putting in a little more. Keeps those that aren't really interested from wanting in. ;)

  8. Agreed, I'm all for increasing the size of the pot as well.
